PATHWAY TO PEACE:

There’s a place that I know, where we all go

To be freed from our heartache and sadness;

When weary in health, near its end will show

Your soul seeking freedom from its madness:

And soon, on a gentle breeze you will leave

As you approach the greatness of your time,

You will leave me behind alone to grieve;

To me you are the reason and the rhyme.

Time for change flows forever on a stream

Of light in a different dimension;

Unseen around us, in essence a dream,

And keeps secret its truest intention;

Makes the hairs on our necks bristle so strange

As it stirs through the air all around us,

Beyond comprehension and out of range;

It beckons us to wander as it does.

Your pain is deep, so vivid and so real:

Borne of the bad ones in your life: their trait,

So trust in me was hard; I know you feel

I’ve bore your burden and their hate:

Predestined to meet from lives far away;

Joined in love as our paths ran together,

Destiny will free you from your dark day,

And life will release you from its tether.

8-line stanzas. 10 syllables per line.

Life fades from your eyes; they no longer see

As your life glows on a fluttering breeze;

Your white, silken gown flowing as you flee

Amidst the stars as your freedom you seize,

Into the autumn skies and far away;

Your pathway is farther than the sky,

You close your eyes, but do not go astray

Beyond the stars  your pathway you will fly.

Deep in my heart, all the tears that I cry

Flow like a river of hot molten steel,

My soul-mate has gone, perhaps that is why

Life can be so cruel and sometimes, surreal:

We are all free spirits from whence we came

And thither go in search of a soul-mate

And hither meet at the end of the game,

Will loss and my hurt ever dissipate?

Will I meet you again, on the top stair:

The beginning of my own life’s ending?

Where our darkest days join with life's bright glare

We’ll be the stars in heaven transcending,

And if you're not there for me when I leave,

I’ll understand if our meeting was sojourn;

I hope our parting was just a reprieve,

But for having loved you; I was reborn.
